Ministry Communication Guidelines
Calvary Bible Church
Effective ministry thrives on clarity, unity, and purpose. Scripture consistently affirms that the Church is to function in an orderly and edifying manner. The apostle Paul instructed the church in Corinth that church matters should be handled in an orderly manner (1 Cor.14:40). God is not a God of confusion, but a God of order.
Our communication, whether verbal, written, or digital, should mirror this divine order. Our aim as a staff is to equip, support, and enable the various ministries of Calvary Bible Church in their efforts to multiply disciples who glorify God. Good communication is essential to effective ministry, and the following guidelines serve as a means of enabling the ministry staff to meet the vast and varied communication needs of all our ministries.
Guidelines for communication could be seen as a restriction of or hindrance to ministry. However, due to the size of our congregation and the number of our ministries, balancing the type and number of communication requests with our staff’s capacity to meet them is necessary. Furthermore, we assist ministries by limiting the content, frequency, and timing of some messaging in order to maximize its effectiveness. The following guidelines are a means of achieving this desired balance and effectiveness.
Most of these guidelines are not new; they have existed for some time. However, we realize that many of them have gone uncommunicated, or so much time has passed since they were communicated, that there is an overall lack of awareness. We are publishing these guidelines to increase awareness and cooperation, and to reduce confusion and frustration. Your understanding of and adherence to these guidelines will go a long way in helping us be as effective as possible in glorifying the Lord in our communication. If you have any questions about these guidelines, you are encouraged to contact the office.
Orderly communication is not merely a matter of efficiency; it reflects our obedience to God’s design for His Church. As we implement communication guidelines, let us do so with the aim of multiplying disciples who glorify God!
