News

We want to thank our Deacons and greeters for providing the 6-8 additional servers needed each Sunday in order to man the temperature-check stations. By providing temperature checks for those who did not do symptom screening at home, our dedicated Deacons and volunteers have helped us increase congregational awareness of this important safety precaution. Over the past 6 weeks, no one arrived with a temperature, and the importance of symptom screening has been well-established. As a result, beginning next week, we will no longer be providing volunteers to take your temperature as you enter the building in the morning services. Stations will still be available for those who have not taken their temperature at home, with detailed instructions on the use of the thermometer, including sanitizing your hands before and after its use. A volunteer will continue to be provided to take the temperatures of those attending the evening service. We continue to encourage everyone to practice standard symptom screening at home or at the provided self-check stations in the lobby, and not to attend in-person if they are not feeling well or have a temperature.

School supplies season is here already! Operations Christmas Child sends school supplies in every box and we can use donations of subject notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, erasers and glue sticks. We ask that you hold on to the supplies until it is safe to bring them to Calvary. This year we are encouraging individuals and families to pack their own shoe boxes. Our packing parties will be very limited in the Fall. This ministry delivers your gifts along with the gospel to millions of children worldwide waiting to hear the Good News of Jesus.

The Elders have approved Steve and Cindy Thompson for membership.

Service Opportunities

We want to announce the restart of the ministry Church on the Porch. The goal of Church on the Porch is to bring church to those who cannot attend services on Sunday. Right now, elements on this ministry include a mini communion service at your house, phone calls to those who can’t be at church, or letters of encouragement to those who can’t be at church. If you would like to receive one of these ministries, please call the church office.  If you would like to participate in serving others in one of these ministries, we also ask that you call the church office.

Prayer Requests

Julian ‘Bud’ Visser, father of John Visser, departed from this life July 20.

Thank You!

We sincerely appreciate all the prayers, cards, words of encouragement and hugs we have received from our Calvary family as we grieve the loss of Robin's mom, Shirley Friedl. Thank you, also, for the gift to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission in her memory. We are blessed to have had her love and her faithful example of walking with and serving the Lord.

Our Global Ministries Team are regularly communicating with our Partners as often as possible. Currently they are all in good health and either at home or in a safe location. If you would like an electronic copy of the weekly Global Partner Prayer Sheet, please contact the church office.

VBS Update Thank you to everyone who participated in our week of VBS through prayer! We had an incredible week! Our average attendance, per day, was 102 kids and each one of them heard a clear presentation of the gospel! We also want to thank all our amazing volunteers, VBS would not have happened without them and each one did a great job! We were thrilled to be able to host a VBS this year and are looking forward to next year!

Children’s Ministry Summer Program is underway! We have classes, every Sunday, for children ages 2-Years old through 5th Grade! Classes are only available during the 11:00 a.m. service. We are in need of additional helpers for all age groups so if you are willing and able to volunteer, please contact Hannah Haney.

Adopt-a-Grad This program is for individuals, families, or LifeGroups who are interested in committing to pray for and encourage one of our 2020 High School grads for their first year after High School.
