Our Merciful High Priest
Hebrews 2:14-18
Pastor Bret Laird
6:00 p.m.
Evening Candlelight Service
Pastor Bret Laird
Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

After salvation, Baptism is an important next step for the believer in Christ. By obeying Christ’s command, you are publicly declaring your identity with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. There are two required meetings prior to Baptism Sunday so please sign up by Tuesday, January 2.
Please plan to join us on Sunday nights in the new year when Sunday Evening services and Go Groups resume on January 7, 2024. The evening service is a great time to worship with your church family. Following the service, Go Groups are a wonderful time of prayer for our unsaved friends, family, and neighbors. Beginning in January, we will be walking through the book of Acts, one chapter a week, with a focus on principles of outreach and disciple-making found in the early NT church. Make plans to join us as we learn, grow, and ask the Lord to make us faithful in sharing Christ! The Go Groups are transformational in helping us be more intentional in sharing our faith as Christ commanded. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Registration is now open for those 1st - 5th graders interested in participating in Kids Praise! for the second semester. Please Click Here for registration and participation information. Those already registered need not re-register.
Today in the Word is available on the Oak Rack in the Fellowship Center and in the Lobby Entryways.
Year-end-Giving Project
This year’s end-of-the-year giving project is “Global Ministries: From Jerusalem to the Ends of the Earth”. This project will enable us to invest in three key areas of Global Ministry:
1) Facilitating needed upgrades in the CBC Mission House, which is the home that Calvary provides for Global Partners while they are in Kalamazoo;
2) Equipping our 2024 combined High School and Adult short-term construction team to Frontier School of the Bible with the building materials required, including replacement windows for one of the student dormitories; and
3) Providing additional resources to our Global Ministries Fund to assist our Global Partners with strategic needs.
To contribute to this fund, please note “Year End Giving Project” on your offering envelope, or if giving online select “other projects” and type in Year End Giving Project.
