Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door. As an example, brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. We count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.

Tutors are needed for the ESL Plus Conversation Class. Classes meet on Tuesday evenings beginning October 4 - December 13 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. in the Chapel. No prior ESL experience is needed. We facilitate one-on-one or small group conversations using ESL Conversation Worksheets with international adults (WMU students, spouses, refugees, visitors) who want to improve their English speaking skills. We share the love of Christ and build relationships of trust on which to share the Gospel. A training meeting will be held at church on Monday, September 19 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. For more information or to RSVP for training, click here to connect with Clay VanDussen and Gary Cudney.

Ministry Focus
Historically, Calvary Bible Church had an active Jail Ministry serving both the Kalamazoo and VanBuren County Jails. Working with the Jail Chaplain with Forgotten Man Ministries, Calvary Bible Church held scheduled church services at both jails, weekly inmate Bible studies, access to the cell blocks to share Christ with individual inmates, and an after-care program for recently released inmates. More recently access into the jails was been limited, especially the Kalamazoo County Jail. We are praying that God will re-open doors so we can once again resume our ministry activities. If you would like more information on our Jail Ministry or would like to get involved, contact Dan Johnson at the Church Office.
Elder Focus
Bret Laird was saved in 1981 and came to Calvary Bible Church in December 2017 when we called him as our Senior Pastor. He and his wife, Katey have four children: Aleithea, Timothy, Titus, and Anastasia. Prior to coming to Calvary, he and his family served with SGA in Ukraine.
