NextSteps is a gathering of post-college and career-minded young adults (approximate ages 22 through 35) who share life together, encourage one another, serve others, and seek to honor Christ in all they do. NextSteps is facilitated by two elders and their wives who are currently engaged in servant-leadership at Calvary. If this is your age demographic, you are cordially invited to join us in NextSteps where you will be warmly welcomed and find many new friends. Come join us

“…that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
~ Colossians 1:9-10

Weekly Meeting Times

SUNDAY MORNING LIFEGROUP

Each Sunday morning, NextSteps meets in the Chapel (Room 125) at 9 a.m. to enjoy community, growth, service, and prayer in a relaxed, informal, engaging, and comfortable environment. A variety of teaching modalities and interactive class discussion are combined to address a broad array of topics, including biblical book studies, issues of shared life experience, and current challenges in our post-Christian culture. Biblical truth, insights, and perspectives are always sought, and proper biblical responses emphasized.

At 10:30 a.m., following LifeGroup, we gather with the extended Calvary family for intergenerational corporate worship.

SUNDAY EVENING BIBLE STUDIES

At 7:30 p.m. each Sunday evening there are separate men’s and women’s Bible studies and accountability groups which meet in homes. Once per month the two studies join together at one home for a combined study and social time.

  • Men – Bros with Bibles

  • Women – Gals with Grace

WEDNESDAY EVENING GATHERING

A mid-week gathering of the young adults of Calvary occurs weekly on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in Room 215A for a structured time of discipleship, Bible study, accountability, prayer, and outreach. The group is co-ed and open to young adults from all walks of life.

Prior to meeting at 6:30 p.m., an option exists for those interested to join with others in the church family at 5:15 p.m. for Calvary’s Wednesday evening fellowship dinner, providing an opportunity for building intergenerational relationships.

Social Events

Social events are frequent and varied, often occurring in homes. These events are announced on the NextSteps Calendar, on the Facebook page, and during the Nextsteps LifeGroup on Sunday mornings.

Leadership

Calvary Elders providing Oversight:

NextSteps is overseen by two Elders and their wives, Sam & Karen Logan and Mike & Kay Ruiter. Both couples have enjoyed many years of young adult ministry, and are actively involved in teaching, encouraging, mentoring, and hospitality.

Sam & Karen Logan feel a special kinship to the NextSteps young adult demographic since they met and married as relatively-older young adults. They have had the privilege of serving together with young adults at Calvary for the past 12 years, initially providing oversight for Crossroads, Calvary’s college ministry, and presently NextSteps since its inception in January 2021. Their desire is to be an encouragement to young adults, and count it a privilege to have mentoring relationships and friendships with them.

Mike & Kay Ruiter have a special heart for young adults, and have been involved in young adult ministry and mentoring together at Calvary for over 16 years. They were involved in leading Crossroads with the Logan’s, and have been with NextSteps since the beginning. Mike is a gifted Bible teacher, and for the past 13 years has faithfully led Calvary’s Tuesday morning Men’s Bible study. Kay is uniquely gifted in hospitality, and is also deeply involved in compassion ministry with cancer patients.
