News
There will be a short Informational Members’ Meeting next Sunday morning, November 15. It will be between services at 10:30 in the sanctuary. Those coming to the second service should plan to arrive a little early; seating may be limited, but the meeting is expected to last only about 10 minutes. Members, please plan to attend.
Our Global Partners have felt the impact of COVID-19 in many ways. Some were stranded away from their ministry home or had their home service in the U.S. cut short. This November as we collect for the Global Partner Christmas Gift we ask you keep all of our Partners in your prayers. The funds we collect will be distributed as an expression of our appreciation to the Global Partners and the many countries in which they serve. These gifts will not be tax deductible. Please mark a separate envelope with the gift title under ‘Other’ and put it in the offering box. Alternatively, you can give online here, or using the church REALM database. Select ‘Other Projects’ and insert the gift title into the memo box that appears.
Calvary’s Worship Ministries will be presenting “Glory in the Highest,” a Calvary Christmas Concert on:
Friday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, December 12 at 4:00 p.m. (High Precaution: Masks required throughout)
Saturday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, December 13 at 5:00 p.m.
In order to maintain socially distanced seating at the concerts, all attendees will be asked to reserve a seat by obtaining a ticket (at no cost). The ticketing system will also allow for seating family groups together. Tickets are available by clicking here beginning today or by calling the church office during regular business hours beginning today. Posters and invitations will also be available for distribution on November 9. All concerts will be live-streamed. Please be praying about whom you can invite!
Shoeboxes are available to pick up for Operation Christmas Child in the library. We are encouraging families, groups and individuals to pack their own shoeboxes this year. There will be no packing parties at church. Shoeboxes are continuing to be delivered to over 130 countries and unreached people groups around the world. Each box is delivered with the gospel message and the booklet "The Greatest Gift" in their language. Drop off finished shoeboxes in the library by November 22. Contact Pam Wilkinson with questions or visit Samaritan’s Purse.
COVID Reminder: With the Kalamazoo Health Department reporting an upward trend of COVID cases in the community, we encourage anyone in the congregation who has tested positive to contact the Church Office, so we can minister and serve in practical ways; we will honor each person’s privacy. We are grateful to the Lord that so far there have not been any transmissions at church, but we have heard from a few members who have contracted the virus outside of church. We encourage everyone to refer back to the steps the Elders set out in early June for us to follow when we are notified that someone in the congregation has tested positive for COVID-19; they have been reposted on the UPDATE page of the website and are available by contacting the church office.
Prayer Request
For the family of Esther Brouwer, mother of Joy Brouwer and Jean Rus, who departed from this life November 4
Happy Birthday!
Phyllis Smith, our oldest member of Calvary Bible Church, will celebrate her 100th birthday, tomorrow, November 9. Phyllis was instrumental in getting our library started here at Calvary that so many of us enjoy. She is anxiously looking forward to meeting our Savior!
Thank You!
We thank the Lord for your extreme generosity and out pouring of love with total gifts in excess of $9,500. As Paul wrote to the Philippians, your offering was a “sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God,” especially during this difficult, challenging year. We are humbled and blessed to serve with you at Calvary.
The Pastors
As we celebrated the homegoing and legacy of Sally Cargo, we were encouraged by your thoughtfulness. God intricately used each prayer, conversation and card to encourage us during our grief. Thank you for your contribution to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission in Sally’s name.
With much love and gratitude,
The Haner Family
In times of trial, it is so wonderful to know we have a family of believers here at Calvary who uphold us in prayer. Thank you to so many of you who have prayer for us, sent condolences and offered your support in many ways as our daughter/sister/granddaughter, Sheri VanderLugt, went home to be with the Lord. Thank you, also, for the memorial to Kalamazoo Gospel Mission in her honor.
