NEWS
The family dinner of Ravioli Bake will be served from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. prior to the evening activities. A gluten free option is always available. To ensure we have enough food, we ask everyone to sign up in advance (by 9:00 a.m. Wednesday), by noting on a Calvary Connection card, calling the Church Office or click here. This is always a great time of fellowship before the evening activities begin.
Nomination forms for Elders and Deacons have been mailed to CBC members. Completed forms must be returned by Sunday, March 6, and can be dropped off at the Welcome Center, Church Office, or placed in Jim Trombley’s box in the mailroom. Please pray that godly men are nominated to serve as leaders in our church.
Our students will be conducting a coin offering next Sunday in the morning services. This offering is divided between the youth ministry areas to be used for special purchases. Student Ministries appreciates the coins that you generously donate.
If you have experienced the death of a loved one please join us for GriefShare. It is a Bible based program that helps guide you on your grief journey. The next session began Tuesday February 22 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. in 122A (Reception Room). It is a 13 week program. The cost is $20 (scholarships available). Contact Donna Steinke for more information.
Elder’s Update
The Elders held an all-day retreat on Saturday, February 12, 2022, here at Calvary. The primary focus for the day was prayer for the Body at Calvary. The agenda included:
A challenge from Pastor Jeff to the Elders regarding their responsibility to disciple others, using Barnabas as an example of one who used his spiritual gifts to disciple Paul and then John Mark
A discussion to reach out to those who have not yet returned to church for various reasons, recognizing there has been a limited response to “Church on the Porch”. This was followed by a lengthy time of prayer by each Elder.
A debrief of the first several weeks of “Go Groups”. More than 100 people are currently in groups and the initial reactions have been extremely encouraging, with many intentionally initiating conversations with neighbors and others they meet. A goal will be to provide an opportunity for those with small children to be included. This again was followed by a lengthy time of prayer by each Elder.
A process to effectively care for the needs of the congregation at Calvary was discussed.
A committee was established to study the biblical basis for membership and its application at Calvary.
The meeting was closed in prayer.
