On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining.

SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, at 11:50a.m. following the second service we will have a Special Business Meeting for a vote to affirm the call of David Kaneversky as Senior Associate Pastor. All members should plan to be in attendance for this important decision in the life of our church body. Absentee ballots are available in the lobby at the Welcome Center and must be completed and submitted prior to the start of the meeting. Please remember that absentee ballots do not count towards a quorum.

NEWS

Pizza will be served at the Family Dinner from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., prior to the evening activities on Wednesday. A gluten free or dairy free option is available upon advanced request. We ask everyone to sign up in advance (no later than 9:00 a.m. Wednesday) by noting on a Calvary Connection card, calling the Church Office or by clicking here. This is always a great time of fellowship before the evening activities begin.

The Elders have approved the following people for active Membership: Mike & Kim Dunlap, and Evan Schober.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Please consider contributing to a love offering for our Pastors to express our thanksgiving for their service to the Lord here at Calvary. Please mark a separate envelope with “Pastor Appreciation" and put it in the offering. Alternatively, you can give online through the church website or the church REALM database. Select 'Other Projects' and type 'Pastor Appreciation' into the memo box that appears. These donations will be tax deductible and accepted through October 31.

For the four Sundays in November, we will be accepting contributions towards our annual Global Partner Christmas Gift fund. These funds will be distributed as an expression of our appreciation to the Global Partners we support.

The Oak Racks formerly located by the Nursery hallway can be found in the Fellowship Center with the Family Resources. We encourage you to visit this area to become aware of all the resources we have available.

The Proclamation Brass and The Singing Crusaders will be presenting a concert this Saturday at Bible Baptist Church at 4:00 p.m. to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the founding of the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. Visit proclamationbrass.org to reserve free tickets for this event and for more information.

Opportunities to Serve

Calling all Ladies!!  The Women's Discipleship-Making Ministry needs women to host a table for the Christmas Candlelight Dessert! Please volunteer and do not miss out on this wonderful ministry opportunity! Last day to sign up is October 29 in the fellowship center by contacting Laura Reynhout here.

The Children’s Ministry 3 year old class is in need of one teacher to serve once a month during the 9:00 a.m. service and one teacher to serve once a month during the 10:30 a.m. service. If it is God’s will for us to have this ministry, then He has servants prepared to serve in this ministry. Please contact Lora West for more information.

AWANA is a global ministry focused on child discipleship and scripture memory. The theme verse of AWANA is 2 Timothy 2:15 “Do you your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. That is what we are trying to instill in these children each week. Without these clubs fully staffed, we are unable to properly run this program and care for these kids. Here is what each club still needs: Puggles – 2 adults; Sparks – 3 adults; T&T Girls – 3 adults; T&T Boys – 3 adults. If you have questions or would like to sign up, please contact Hannah Haney.

The Family Advocacy Ministry (FAM) exists to support Calvary families to live out James 1:27 in caring for orphans. We are looking for volunteers to support foster and adoptive families at Calvary with simple tasks such as being a prayer partner or bringing a meal. Families that want more information about bringing a vulnerable child into their home to foster or adopt may contact us as well. Please pray as to whether the Lord may be calling you to care for widows and orphans through our FAM. For more information or email Here.
