For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

NEWS
Pasta Bake will be served at the Family Dinner from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. prior to the evening activities on Wednesday. A gluten free option is always available. To ensure we have enough food, we ask everyone to sign up in advance (no later than 9:00 a.m. Wednesday), by noting on a Calvary Connection card, calling the Church Office or by Clicking Here using the QR code. This is always a great time of fellowship before the evening activities begin.
A Special Membership meeting to vote on the proposed amendment to the Constitution and Bylaws of Calvary Bible Church will be held on October 23 in the Evening Service. The amendment has been recommended by the Elders so that our Baptism requirements for Membership are consistent with our Statement of Faith. Since the informational meeting on September 25 included a lengthy question-and-answer time, there will not be an open microphone during the meeting on October 23. The Elders will respond to questions and comments expressed during the informational meeting. If anyone has any additional items for the Elders to address, please submit them in writing on or before Wednesday, October 19 at contact@calvarybible.org. A written copy of the proposed change was distributed at the informational meeting on September 25; copies are currently available in the spinner racks in the lobby. A quorum will be required; all Members, please plan to attend. Absentee ballots will be available beginning next week for those who cannot attend in person on October 23; please note that absentee ballots do not count towards our quorum.
After salvation, Baptism is an important next step for the Believer in Christ. By obeying Christ’s command, you are publicly declaring your identity with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. Our next Baptism service will be Sunday Evening, November 13. Please contact Angela Haner or call the church office if you are interested. There are two required meetings on October 23 and 30, so please sign up no later then Monday, October 17.
The next Men’s Breakfast will take place on Saturday, October 15 from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Share a delicious breakfast, a challenge to lead spiritually and brotherly fellowship. Bring your dad, son, brother or friend! Click here to sign up.
October is Pastor Appreciation month. The Pastors will be honored after the evening service on October 30. Please consider contributing to a love offering for them to express our thanksgiving for their service to the Lord here at Calvary. Please mark a separate envelope with 'Pastor Appreciation" and put it in the offering. Alternatively, you can give online through the church website or the church REALM database. Select 'Other Projects' and insert 'Pastor Appreciation' into the memo box that appears. These donations will be tax deductible.
The next Membership class will be on Saturday, October 29 in Room 122 A & B (Reception Rooms). The class will be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with lunch provided. Plan to bring your own Bible. Click here or call the Church Office to sign up.

Important Information on Right to Life Issues
Vote No on Proposal 22-3. It is on the ballot for this November; absentee ballots are already in the mail. The proposal is “to amend the state constitution to establish new individual right to reproductive freedom, including right to make all decisions about pregnancy and abortion; …and forbid prosecution of individuals exercising established right.” It goes on to say that it establishes “new individual right to reproductive freedom, including right to make and carry out all decisions about pregnancy, such as…abortion.” It allows the “state to regulate abortion after fetal viability, but not prohibit if medically needed to protect a patient’s….mental health”. It invalidates state laws that conflict with the amendment. Per Cathy Stoner, Executive Director at Alternatives of Kalamazoo, a Global Partner of Calvary Bible Church, “"This amendment goes far beyond "getting Roe back”. If this passes, Michigan will likely be the most extreme pro-choice state in the nation. Prop 3 is confusing and extreme." This amendment is not a political issue; it is a moral, biblical issue. In Psalm 139, we learn that God continues to be the Creator who forms life together in the “mother’s womb”. When we have an opportunity, we also have a responsibility, to pray and seek to turn our nation away from its wicked ways.
