Open your mouth for the mute, For the rights of all the unfortunate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, And defend the rights of the afflicted and needy.

NEWS

Pizza will be served at the Family Dinner from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. prior to the evening activities on Wednesday. A gluten free option is always available. To ensure we have enough food, we ask everyone to sign up in advance (no later than 9:00 a.m. Wednesday), by noting on a Calvary Connection card, calling the Church Office or by Clicking Here using the QR code. This is always a great time of fellowship before the evening activities begin.

LifeGroups will meet together in theBLOCK for a two-part series on Generational Discipleship. Pastor Jeremy will teach today, and Jim West will teach next week.

A Special Membership meeting to vote on the proposed amendment to the Constitution and Bylaws of Calvary Bible Church will be held tonight in the Evening Service. The amendment has been recommended by the Elders so that our Baptism requirements for Membership are consistent with our Statement of Faith. Since the informational meeting on September 25 included a lengthy question-and-answer time, there will not be an open microphone during the meeting. The Elders will respond to questions and comments expressed during the informational meeting. A written copy of the proposed change was distributed at the informational meeting on September 25; copies are currently available in the spinner racks in the lobby. A quorum will be required tonight; all Members, please plan to attend. Absentee ballots are available in the Welcome Center for those who cannot attend in person; please note that absentee ballots do not count towards our quorum.

The Pastors will be honored in a reception tonight following the meeting in the Fellowship Center. Please consider contributing to a love offering for them to express our thanksgiving for their service to the Lord here at Calvary. Please mark a separate envelope with “Pastor Appreciation" and put it in the offering. Alternatively, you can give online through the church website or the church REALM database. Select 'Other Projects' and insert 'Pastor Appreciation' into the memo box that appears. These donations will be tax deductible and accepted through October 31.

To write a note of encouragement to the pastors for Pastor Appreciation, please see the table set up in the Fellowship Center.

The next Membership class will be on Saturday, October 29 in Room 122 A & B (Reception Rooms). The class will be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with lunch provided. Plan to bring your own Bible. Click here or call the Church Office to sign up.

For the four Sundays in November, we will be accepting contributions towards our annual Global Partner Christmas Gift fund. These funds will be distributed as an expression of our appreciation to the Global Partners we support. These gifts will not be tax deductible. Please mark a separate envelope with the gift title under ‘Other’ and put it in the offering plate. Alternatively, you can give online through the church website or using the church REALM database. Select ‘Other Projects’ and insert “Global Partner Christmas” into the memo box that appears.

The Calvary Foster and Adoptive ministry is looking for volunteers to meet the needs of current foster and adoptive families at Calvary. Current needs include babysitting an elementary aged girl, meals, and being a 1-1 aide/buddy during Sunday school for a teenage boy. For further details please Click here to email us.

Senior Saints of Calvary! If you are unable to do yardwork, we, the Young Adults of NextSteps, would like to assist you with your fall leaf raking. We will be working outdoors only. A date of raking will be determined by the falling of the leaves, and we will contact you in advance of a date that we can come to rake. If you are interested, please contact the church office or Click here. We would love to help you!

Please consider serving so that we can provide biblical discipleship, to all ages, every Sunday! Contact Hannah Haney to learn more about how to sign up! Nursery needs more workers!

Important Information on Right to Life Issues

Vote No on Proposal 22-3. It is on the ballot for this November. The proposal is “to amend the state constitution to establish new individual right to reproductive freedom, including right to make all decisions about pregnancy and abortion; …and forbid prosecution of individuals exercising established right.” It goes on to say that it allows the “state to regulate abortion after fetal viability, but not prohibit if medically needed to protect a patient’s….mental health”. It invalidates state laws that conflict with the amendment. Per Cathy Stoner, Executive Director at Alternatives of Kalamazoo, a Global Partner of Calvary Bible Church, “"This amendment goes far beyond "getting Roe back”. If this passes, Michigan will likely be the most extreme pro-choice state in the nation. Prop 3 is confusing and extreme." This amendment is not a political issue; it is a moral, biblical issue. In Psalm 139, we learn that God continues to be the Creator who forms life together in the “mother’s womb”. When we have an opportunity, we also have a responsibility, to pray and seek to turn our nation away from its wicked ways.
