Rejoice! Hope is Here
Calvary Christmas Concert

NEWS

The family dinner of chicken alfredo will be served from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. prior to the evening activities. A gluten free option is always available. To ensure we have enough food, we ask everyone to sign up in advance (by 9:00 a.m. Wednesday), by noting on a Calvary Connection card, calling the Church Office, or by clicking here. This is always a great time of fellowship before the evening activities begin.

Our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be Friday, December 24 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Throughout the pandemic, the Elders have been committed to honoring the priesthood of all believers and meeting the varying needs which exist within the congregation. Based upon recent conversations with those who have been faithfully attending the 4:00 p.m. service, the Elders have decided to discontinue the separate Higher Precaution Service in the Chapel, and replace it with a Higher Precaution Seating Area in the Sanctuary. Beginning with the Christmas Eve Service, and during 9:00 a.m. Sunday Services beginning on December 26, the Balcony will be designated as a Higher Precaution Seating Area reserved for those who desire to wear masks and practice social distancing. Please help us make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone, and join us in rejoicing as we take this important and encouraging step together as a church family!

There will be no evening service on Sunday, December 26.

Christmas Break 2021:
There will be no LifeGroups meeting on December 26 or January 2. Classes will resume on January 9.
All Wednesday activities (GrowthGroups, Wednesday Dinner, AWANA clubs and REACH) will not be meeting on December 22 or December 29.
The Church Office will be closed or have adjusted hours on the following dates:
December 14 - closing at noon for the Staff Christmas Party
December 24 - closing at noon
December 27 - closed
December 28 - closed
December 31 - closed

Effective January 2, the start time for the second service will return to 10:30 a.m. When the pandemic started, the second service start time was delayed to ensure that there was adequate time to complete any additional procedures necessary. At the request of the Deacons, those serving in the Next Generation Ministries, and others, the Elders decided to return to our historical service times.

The Offering Envelopes distributed last year did not have dates on them, any that remain can be used in 2022. If you need new envelopes or have not received them in the past, they are now available by contacting the church office. Since many people are giving online and/or not using their envelopes, it is more cost effective to provide envelopes without a number. The office will provide stickers to be applied to each envelope with your name and number.

The next Men’s Breakfast will take place on Saturday, December 18 from 8:30 - 10 a.m. Share breakfast, a Man Challenge and fellowship. Bring your Dad, son, brother or friend! Click here to sign up.

Thursday Morning Women's Bible Study: Beginning on Thursday, January 13, there will be a Women's Bible study offered at CBC from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Karen Rowland will lead a study through “The Pursuit of Holiness” by Jerry Bridges. Click here to register.

YEAR END GIVING PROJECT

It is with joy that we have watched God bless Leon de Juda, Calvary’s outreach ministry to the South West Michigan Hispanic community. This fall it became apparent that there is no longer space in our building for this portion of our congregation to meet for worship on Sunday mornings. The Elders have approved the purchase of a modular building to be placed in the green space near the southeast library entrance. The brothers and sisters of Leon de Juda are thrilled with the opportunity to have a space not only for Sunday mornings but for their multiple ministries throughout the week. The total cost of the modular unit is $200,000. The Elders have established this as our End of the Year Giving Project. Simply designate on your envelope or on electronic gifts: “End of the Year Project.”

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

We are looking for volunteers to help clear sidewalks on Sundays before services this winter. If this is an area you are interested in serving or you would like more information, please contact Dan Beason.
