News
Last week the Elders reinstated our normal Sunday Evening Service at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel. It was a great time of worship, fellowship, prayer and teaching. Please join us again tonight in the Chapel.
Pastor Bret will continue to minister to anyone desiring a higher precaution format at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
After salvation, baptism is an important next step for the believer in Christ. By obeying Christ’s command, you are publicly declaring your identity with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. Our next baptism service will be Sunday evening, August 29. Please contact Ana Ruggles in the church office if you are interested. There are two required meetings prior to Baptism Sunday so please sign up by Tuesday, August 3.
School supply season has arrived! Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are filled in November with pencils and pencil sharpeners, pens, erasers, markers, colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks, coloring books and spiral notebooks. Donations of any of these items may be placed in the Samaritan's Purse/Operation Christmas Child bin outside Reception Room A. For information about this ministry, click here. Contact Pam Wilkinson with questions.
Angel Tree camping starts today and runs through July 25. Please pray for open hearts to the Gospel and God's Word to impact their hearts and lives.
The Elders have approved Nichole Deuser for membership.
Annual Meeting Results
I want to thank the members of Calvary Bible Church for their participation in the annual business meeting. The support for the work done by staff, committees, Deacons and Elders is overwhelming. I do also want to make a clarification on the totals for the votes for the Elders and Deacons. I had made an announcement at the time that all nominees passed by a margin of 85%. After a review of the number of votes per person the tally shows each nominee passed with at least a 95% margin. Thank you all again for your encouragement, and support of the work of this local church body. May the Lord continue to bless this body and all the ministries represented here.
- Dan Haney, Elder Chairman
Service Opportunity
The Calvary Welcome Center is looking for a few smiling faces to serve one shift per month (less than 30 minutes!), either before first service or between services. New and seasoned volunteers are welcome. For more information, please contact Molly Wieber or call the church office.
Memorial
The family of Gerald Longjohn Sr. invites his friends to join us in a celebration of his life on Saturday, July 31, at 9:00 a.m., at The Music Barn (1125 122nd Ave, Martin, MI). A time of fellowship and brunch will follow the service.
Congratulations!
Tim and Deb Foley celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on July 16!
Partner Updates
It is with both joy and sadness that we celebrate Bob Goodenough’s retirement from his position as Executive Director of RBM Ministries. Bob and Darcie have served in many roles through the years in the local church and on staff with RBM Ministries. Bob and Darcie are members of Calvary and it has been our joy to partner with them and RBM Ministries through our Global Ministries Fund. While Bob will be stepping out of his role, Calvary will continue to partner with RBM Ministries and its ministry to children through public school release time classes to assist the local church in shaping the eternal destiny of souls by the Word of God. Thank you Bob and Darcie for your faithful service!
It is with great joy that we celebrate the marriage of our Global Partner Jillian Jones and Abe Thomas on August 7. Jillian and Abe will return to the ministry team Abe has been a part of in Asia Minor. This is an amazing ministry and as they begin their life together, they have the full blessing of Calvary. Because of some organizational differences, Calvary will not be continuing our partnership with Jillian. If you are not currently in contact with Jillian and would like to be, please contact Pastor Jeff Whitaker through the Calvary office. Congratulations Jillian and Abe! May God richly bless your marriage and your ministry.
