Our students will be conducting a coin offering next Sunday, September 3 in the morning services. This offering is divided between the youth ministry areas to be used for special purchases. Next Generation Ministries appreciates the coins that you generously donate.
The seasons of drought with famine have continued in Uganda. Because of your generosity, there have been 4 emergency food distributions: August 2021, September 2021, March 2022 & May 2023. This year, TWH provided food for almost 1,000 grannies, grandchildren, and staff members. This will help sustain them until the harvest in September/October. Thanks to your generosity we have enough funds for about 5 more food distributions. Please pray the Lord provides the right amount of rain so crops will grow.
2024 SHARE Hungary Conference will be held Feb. 23 - March 3. SHARE has requested that Calvary provide a team consisting of four volunteers to work with young teens 13-14 years old; two volunteers – one teacher and one helper - to work with the 3-4 year old class; and two volunteers – one lead and one helper - to work with the 0-2 year olds. There will be an informational meeting at 4:30 p.m. September 10 in Reception Room B. Please contact Dan Haney for more information.

Are you a WMU, KVCC, or K-College student? Welcome to Kalamazoo and to Calvary! We would love to see you at Crossroads. Crossroads is Calvary’s college and young adult group (18-25 yrs.). We meet at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel on Sunday mornings and 7:30 p.m. at the Doshes’ home. We also have a mid-week Go Group that meets at WMU on Wednesday at 4 p.m.. Opportunities to Serve
ESL Conversation Groups need approved drivers for the 14 passenger van for Tuesday Nights from October 3 – December 12. The route will have one stop on the WMU Campus bringing International Students to meet at church and then returning them to campus. If you have a heart for Internationals, we can help you get approved to drive. Contact Gary Cudney if you are interested.
Do you just love being around 2, 3, 4 and 5 year olds? The Children’s Ministry is looking for teachers for this age group that would commit to teach on Sunday mornings once or twice a month from September - May during the 10:30 a.m. service. We can give you as much help and training as you need and be there to assist along the way. You must be a Member of Calvary in order to be a teacher. Helpers are also needed in every age group if that is where God might be leading you. For more information please contact Lora West.
Women’s Bible Studies are preparing to start on Tuesday September 12 and we’re happy to offer childcare again this year! We are in need of helpers to come alongside and help minister to these precious little ones. The childcare will open at 9:15 a.m. so moms have opportunity to grab coffee and fellowship before their study begins. Our morning together will be spent in song, doing crafts, free play and a Bible lesson (that you won’t have to teach!). It is a sweet time together with the kids and other helpers. If you are able and willing to help in this ministry, either weekly or as an as needed fill in, please contact Jenna Yetman for more information: phone or email.
Tutors are needed for the ESL Plus Conversation Class. A training meeting will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, September 26 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Please Click Here to RSVP for the training meeting, express interest in serving as a tutor, or for more information. Classes meet on Tuesday evenings October 3 - December 12 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. in the Chapel. No prior ESL experience is needed. We facilitate one-on-one or small group conversations using ESL Conversation Worksheets with international adults who want to improve their English speaking skills.
Elder Focus
Mike Ruiter was saved at age 11 and began attending Calvary Bible Church in 1979. He and his wife, Kay, have three adult children: Julie, Kimberly, and Michelle. He has served in Men’s Bible Study, NextSteps, Crossroads, Healthy Homes, as a LifeGroup teacher, Usher, Deacon and Elder.
