My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

James 5:19-20

NEWS

Fiesta Chicken will be served at the Family Dinner from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. prior to the evening activities on Wednesday. A gluten free option is always available. To ensure we have enough food, we ask everyone to sign up in advance (no later than 9:00 a.m. Wednesday), by noting on a Calvary Connection card, calling the Church Office or by Clicking Here using the QR code. This is always a great time of fellowship before the evening activities begin.

Today is the last day to sign your child up for Kids Praise!. Go to Ministries/Worship/Ministry Forms on Calvary's website for the enrollment form or Click Here.

Tutors are needed for the ESL Plus Conversation Class. A training meeting will be held in the Chapel on Monday, September 19 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. We facilitate one-on-one or small group conversations using ESL Conversation Worksheets with international adults who want to improve their English speaking skills. Classes meet on Tuesday evenings in the Chapel beginning October 4 - December 13 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. No prior ESL experience is needed. For more information or to RSVP for training, please email eslplus.calvary@gmail.com.

There will be a Parent Dedication during the morning services on October 16. Parents will have the opportunity to commit to raising their child in a biblical manner and for God’s glory before the congregation. There will be two required dedication classes meeting on October 2 & 9 in Room 215A at 10:30 a.m. Please contact Angela Haner in the church office to sign up or email angela.haner@calvarybible.org.

Elder Announcement

The Elders are recommending an amendment to the Constitution and Bylaws of the Church so that our baptism requirements for membership are consistent with our Statement of Faith; no change is being recommended for current Church Members. A special Membership Meeting will be held during the evening service on September 25 to explain the amendment and answer any questions. The Special Business Meeting to vote on the proposed changes will be on October 23, again in the evening service. All Members are encouraged to attend both meetings.

Ukraine Fund/Global Ministries Announcement

The Elders want to send a special thanks to the congregation and those outside of Calvary who have contributed to the special Ukraine project fund; donations have now reached $184,400 since March. Disbursements have been made directly or through Global Partners to meet the spiritual and physical needs of refugees and civilians who are suffering. The remaining balance of almost $28,000 will be distributed in future months as the war continues and the devastation remains. The Elders want you to know that donations to the fund will be accepted through the end of September 2022.

The Elders are encouraging donations to the Global Ministries Fund which has fallen behind Budget to the extent that giving to other special needs identified by the Global Ministries Council has been limited. The cash balance in the Global Ministries Fund at the end of August fell to $19,715, the lowest level in recent years and less than 50% of the monthly commitment to Global Partners.

Opportunities to Serve

Our Children’s classes still need 4 Teachers and 10 Helpers to fill our Fall Schedule. If you are interested in serving please email hannah.haney@calvarybible.org. Children’s Ministry cannot function without volunteers. Classes will be closed on the weeks that they are understaffed, as we are no longer combining classes.

Nursery needs more workers! 21 for Sunday mornings, 3 for Sunday nights and 2 adults for every Wednesday night. If we don’t have the workers that we need for the nursery, we will have to start closing nurseries on the weeks that we don’t have enough help. We will no longer be combining nurseries due to staffing shortages.

Would you enjoy serving and helping in the kitchen? We are looking for people who are willing to help in the kitchen during special events, such as Pastor Appreciation, Fellowship Sunday, or other church events. Food Prep, Serving Line, Food Runners, Set-up/tear-down volunteers are all needed. Volunteer functions and time commitments vary with each event. Please click here to be added to the kitchen Special Events list.

The Deacons need a few individuals or families to assist with Communion preparations and clean up for the first Sunday of the month in the morning services and the third Sunday of the month in the evening service. Click here if you are interested in serving.
